Description: Ambatovy is a laterite nickel mine located 130 kilometers east of Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, with a designed capacity of 60,000 tons/year. The feasibility study was completed in 2006, when the total investment was expected to be $2.25 billion. In August 2007, the estimated total investment increased to $3 billion. The infrastructure project began on November 8, 2007. It is expected to be put into production in 2010, with an annual output of 10,000 tons.
